Headwaters Hospital Foundation was raising money for a critical ASIR update to their CT scanner, and they decided to use a patient story about it at their 2016 Gala fundraiser. Jackson is a young hockey enthusiast who was originally diagnosed for an injury that he received out of town, and which he believed was superficial. The scan he later received at Headwaters showed that the damage to his skull was in fact significant, and that he needed to stay off the ice for a full 3 months. This timely information may well have saved his life.
After the video was played, the audience at the Gala was so moved by Jackson’s story that they donated $50,000 beyond the target required to purchase the upgrade.
